General Session Keynotes

Monday: Kelly Mooney, President and Chief Experience Officer, Resource Interactive
Kelly will discuss the key concepts of her upcoming book, The Open Brand: When Push Comes to Pull in a Web-Made World. Using real world examples, she will explore the rise of personal brands and the online consumer’s desire to create, share, and influence. She’ll also address the relevance of social media in e-commerce and the ability of brands to extend their reach through the network effects of communal consumers. Finally, Kelly will discuss the open brand’s new strategic imperative – to be O.P.E.N.: on-demand, participatory, emotional, and networked.

Tuesday: Chris Anderson, Editor-in-Chief, Wired magazine
Chris Anderson is one of the most knowledgeable and articulate voices at the center of the new economy. He’ll discuss the theory outlined in his recently published book. The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business is Selling Less of More explores the tremendous business potential of the long tail—the rise of the niche as a powerful new force in our economy.

Tuesday: Executive panel - Sustaining e-Commerce Growth in an Extremely Competitive Environment
After his presentation, Chris Anderson will moderate a panel to discuss the impact of rapidly changing market dynamics on their e-commerce business. Online sales continue to grow impressively, but the growth of new online shoppers is flattening resulting in a more competitive environment for both new customers and share of wallet. The panel will discuss how they are adapting their strategies to fit the changing online market.
Panelists:
Curt Avalone, General Manager CVS.com
Shawn Freeman, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy and Technology, Handango
Jimmy Hale, Vice President Application Development, Neiman Marcus
Marty Keane, Vice President e-Commerce, Bluefly

Wednesday: Tamara Mendelsohn, Senior Analyst, Forrester Research
Tamara will help attendees understanding how consumers research purchases, shop, and interact with companies and what they expect from a multi-channel experience. Tamara will review Forrester’s recent consumer survey and provide insights in online behavior and expectations. She’ll discuss the attitudes and behaviors of new online buyers and what makes them difficult to win over. In this session, you’ll understand why mainstream consumers will gravitate naturally to the brands that they know and trust and why all retailers – even well-known brands – need to make the shopping process safer to instill trust with buyers and more convenient to sway them to buy online.
