We've saved the afternoon of Tuesday, May 1 for the networking activity of your choice. Please indicate your activity preference when you register.
Kayaking
Paddle the winding saltwater creeks and uninhabited marsh islands of Coastal South
Carolina. A safe, comfortable sea kayak provides you with a tranquil
view of pelicans,
egrets and dolphins, as well as a variety of plants and wildlife.
You can enjoy gliding effortlessly through backwater creeks or bays, or experience a challenging harbor crossing. Your locally trained guide is an expert paddler with a vast knowledge of the environment and the historical heritage of the barrier islands.
Bring a camera, sunscreen, and sunglasses. You'll receive a drawstring bag to keep your items dry.
What to wear: Shoes that can get wet. Head cover. A dry pair of shorts for the ride back to the hotel.
Chase of Charleston
This on-foot two-hour hunt through Charleston's historic district is one
of
the most delightful ways to learn Charleston. Experience this magnificent
city while discovering why it is often called "America's Best-Kept
Secret."
You'll compete in teams to collect items, complete tasks, and answer historical questions. Your team supplies include a Polaroid camera, a list of historical locations with questions and tasks, a map, Band-Aids in case of a blisters, a quarter to call the "scavenger hunt hotline" (in case your cell phone battery fails), and other necessary items.
Golf
RiverTowne Country Club is Charleston's First Arnold Palmer
Signature
Course. It is just a 25-minute drive from the hotel. Situated among scenic marshlands
and majestic live oaks with 13 holes along the Wando River and Horlbeck Creek,
this 18-hole championship course features exceptional year-round playing conditions
with five sets of tees from 5300 yards to over 7200 yards.
Isle of Palms
If sunning on the sand is more your style, we'll provide a shuttle to
bring you to the Isle of Palms. Located about
15 minutes from Charleston Place,
the Isle of Palms is six miles of white, sandy beach. It is as much a place
of beauty and serenity today as it was hundreds of years ago for the area's
original inhabitants, the Seewee Indians. The Seewee Indians were said to have
greeted the first English settlers to the area by swimming to the ships and
carrying travelers to shore.
There are a number of shops and restaurants near the beach when you're
ready to take a break from the sun.
Free Afternoon
Charleston is known for its history, and we welcome you to explore it on your own. Charleston Place is located in the heart of the city, so you can walk out the front door and find boutiques, antiques shops, art galleries, restaurants, and historic homes. There is also a famous open air market just steps away from the hotel.
The concierge will be happy to recommend a walking route that satisfies your particular interests.
